No. The free tier doesn't require any account at all. You only sign up when you want Pro features (bulk, monitors, history).
Can I switch plans?
Anytime. Upgrade is immediate; downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We pro-rate annual prepay refunds.
What if I exceed the API limit?
We respond with HTTP 429 + a Retry-After header. There are no overage charges and no automatic upgrades. You decide when to bump the plan.
Are there discounts?
Yes — non-profits and education get 50% off Pro and Team. Open-source maintainers get free Pro on request. Annual prepay saves 17%.
Can I run host.tools in my private network?
Enterprise tier ships an on-prem appliance + connector to our managed probe network (or fully air-gapped if you prefer).
Refund policy?
30-day money-back on the first paid month, no questions asked. Annual refunds are pro-rated against months used.
